Book Extras

Here you can find a variety of media that I’ve made for various stories (right now just one published work). Maps and pictures of weapons (made with a free 3D modelling software, generally) are here for your perusal, and I’ll be adding other extras each time I publish something new. Have fun.

Map of the Island from Why Ought I to Die?

I used a smaller, less-labeled file in the book itself; most of the story takes place on this island. Unfortunately, you can’t fit this large of a map in a book without shrinking it, so here’s a larger, separately-printable iteration with some extra information that I could fit due to its larger size.

Penny’s Sword (Why Ought I to Die?)

This is technically not Penny’s sword (especially considering he uses multiple throughout the book), but it is a model of the sword type he uses and loses, a standard Elvish blade for that era. The blade is double-edged, but has a much steeper bevel on the back, meant for dealing with harder materials. Otherwise it’s not all that different from a standard arming sword.

Alexander’s Sword (Why Ought I to Die?)

The real thing is prettier (especially the tsuba and hilt, even if they don’t have much decoration) and has a smoother curve, but this should give you a good idea of its basic shape (and how heavy it would be). It’s probably hard to tell, but the blade is also thicker than standard.

Teaser: Weapon from an Ongoing Project

  • A diagonally oriented bird's eye view of the weapon
  • The blade of the weapon
  • An alternate view of the blade
  • An alternate profile of the weapon, facing the edge

This polearm is from a story I’ve been working on recently (though it won’t be published for a while). It’s a swordstaff of sorts, different from the Scandinavian variant and the naginata both, with a tsuba that functions more like a boar-spear’s cross-bar than a guard, at least in theory (I might end up making it a little bigger). This is one of my favorite weapons I’ve modelled; I think the blade is quite fetching.
